The first series from Nomads of the Multiverse
True North is a six episode epic fantasy Daggerheart actual play series from the team at Nomads of the Multiverse, helmed by JR Williams. Set in a homebrewed world inspired by myth and folklore, this series follows a group of unlikely heroes thrust into the chaos of a world bigger than themselves when their home, the island of North, experiences an existential threat.
What is True North?
This is an "actual play", meaning actors play a tabletop roleplaying game in order to tell a story. Think of popular shows like Critical Role or Dimension 20. The specific game we'll be playing is Daggerheart, a new game from Darrington Press. Daggerheart is cinematic and narrative-focused, and that's what we love about it! You'll see three main cast members (plus guests!) play larger-than-life characters in a world infused with magic and mystery.
A whole new world
True North is set in the world of Caelis, a setting inspired by myth and folklore, and drawing from inspirations like Lord of the Rings, Studio Ghibli, and Cartoon Saloon. This is a place of lantern light, night markets, sailing ships, and intrigue. Bustling days of festivals in the streets and merchants shouting in markets are contrasted by deals done in half-lit taverns and shaded alleys by night. Streets wind and bend, women tell fortunes under colorful drapery, and magic is both coveted and dangerous.
